My first REAL Colorado Adventure......Part 1

Well..... I survived this past weekend. (And yes....i drank, but only a little on Friday and that was IT!!!!) I shall now tell you the tale of what was one of the most beautiful....scary.... ass aching adventures i've had!!! Ready Set GO!!!!

We (Trav, Nichole, Zac and I) headed out around ohhhhh noon Saturday. I wish i would have taken a picture of the car....it was PACKED!!! There was NO seeing out the back....nope not even a little. Apparently camping requires A LOT of stuff!! Anywho.... we travel about and two hours to a little place called Bueno Vista....it's quite the happening spot in the summer!! Lots of outdoor happenings....the main one being white water rafting.....which hopefully we'll be going back for! Anyways.....Zac or driver.....not so good at remembering where we're supposed to be headed for a camp site....

Here we are....pulled over at a map trying to figure out where the heck the campsite is..... no worries we found it..... unpacked.....and set up tents......Ours of course is the GINOURMOUS one..... opps :) But now we know that next time....we can sneak 4 other people in there!!! It'll be a party!! Next up.....some checking out of the area..... which included a lovely little stream....Ok maybe it's not little.....and it's not a stream..... but you get the point!!! Next up.....FOOD time!! Nichole and Zac supplied the grub!! We had the usual.....burgers, brauts....corn on the cob.....BUT NO camping experience is complete with out some JIFFY POP!!!!

If you read the package carefully it tells you NOT to cook it on a campfire.....opps. It burnt the crap out of the bottom stuff....but the popcorn on top was SUPER good!! And FULL of Trans Fat according to Nichole (she's a personal trainer....she's smart!). After stuffing our faces.....and enjoying some quality time by the fire.....Nichole and I called it a night (it may or may not have only been 830...don't judge). I can honestly tell you I only almost peed my pants twice thinking there was a bear, skunk, mountain man creeping around my tent.....finally i just got used to the wind making weird noises and fell asleep..... well as much as you can for sleeping on the ground!! Trav joined about an hour later.....and next thing you know it's wakey-wakey eggs and bakey time.....5:45AM!!!! A quick breakfast of champions (eggs...hashbrowns...banana)...some loading of all our shit.....and we're off to the trail head. This is about when i start to second guess my decision to climb a 14er (for those of you who don't know what it is....it's a mountain....that is 14,000 feet up.....and you hike it....it sucks). But I didn't want to embarass the hubster by being a big baby...soooooo onward I went......That peak in the background.....yaaaaaa.......that's where we're headed.........
